Rider Certification
One important objective of the ANRC is to help educate riding teachers. Our ANRC ratings are rider ratings and not teacher ratings. A teacher should be required to achieve ther rider rating, and to demonstrate the ability to convey clearly and concisely his/her understanding of the techniques and theory of forward riding. The ANRC Rider Ratings are awarded nationally based on a consistent standard.
Each rating includes a practical test comprised of a Dressage Sportif (program ride or flat test using the AHSA equitation tests) and a jumping course. There are additional requirements at higher rating levels that include a jumping phase on an outside course, a field test, a schooling test, a written test, a lunging test and oral evaluations. ANRC instructional clinics are extremely helpful in preparing for a rating.
Before attempting a Rider Certification or participating in an Equitrial, it is important to read through all the information provided about the riding levels. Candidates and competitors should review the ANRC study guide and refer to the suggested reading in the bibliography. The judge's evaluation of your performance will be based on this information. Keep in mind that the certification process is designed to be educational and is intended to create an environment for a positive learning experience for both horse and rider
