As advocates of the American System of Forward Riding, our goal is to promote quality rider education and to provide an opportunity for financial support to our future competitors, coaches, and trainers.

The Captain Vladimir S. Littauer Continuing Education Grants are awarded to riders who best exemplify the practice of, and commitment to, achieving excellence in the American Forward Riding System.

Grants may be used for any purpose that advances the applicant’s equestrian goals. This may include, for example, a high school or college riding program, instruction through clinics or lessons, individual training, or competition.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must have enrolled in the ANRC Forward Riding Proficiency Certificate Program and have earned an ANRC Forward Riding Proficiency Certificate at Level I, II or III. They will also be asked to participate in an oral interview and present a written essay that describes their equestrian experience, goals and how receiving a Captain Vladimir S. Littauer Continuing Education Grant will advance their equestrian education.

Grant Awards are made bi-annually:

  • Level I $500
  • Level II $800
  • Level III $1200

Application deadlines:

  • January 15 (Grant awards distributed by January 30)
  • April 15 (Grant awards distributed by April 30)
  • July 15 (Grant awards distributed by July 30)
  • October 15 (Grant awards distributed by October 30)
